For sale is our TVR Chimaera that is not only in stunning condition it is probably the most sorted and reliable TVR on the market due to the work we have done on it and the upgrades as detailed below. The car only ever comes out on sunny days and we do very few miles a year. We have owned this for 15 years and no expense has been spared. We SORN it every year from October to April and it is kept covered, on trickle charge in a dry garage. The mileage is genuine at 55703. At approximately 52500 the car was subject to a total restoration by a specialist engineer who built race cars and he wanted to take a TVR to bits and build it as he would a new car. The outriggers were replaced and he considered that the suspension was not as he would require. It was all replaced and then fitted with a full set of Spax Krypton adjustable shocks and springs along with new brushes on all the anti-roll bars. The front brakes were then upgraded to grooved and drilled discs along with a full set of braided HEL brake hoses. You will see in the photos that the wheels have been refurbed and finished with a polished rim and metallic centres. The spare has also been finished in the same way. All the wheels are un-marked. At 53,000 miles we had an issue with noisy timing chain and the car was taken to a TVR specialist at Offord Motors. Due to the work involved in changing the timing chain, they advised it would also be good to change the cam shaft at the same time, as the engine was already stripped down. This would be far cheaper than if a new cam shaft should be needed in the future, so this was done. NOW HERE IS THE UPGRADE THAT MAKES THIS CAR SO SPECIAL - We had started to get the “TVR” intermittent electrical problems that no-one seemed to be able to cure. However, we found Dom at “TVR Powers Performance” the absolute TVR experts, who sells a conversion kit to change all the ignition, to a modern car. This car no longer has a distributor. It has all new electrical parts and can actually be set up on a PC to get the maximum performance. We also had loads of extra things upgraded to the tune of £4500 “all receipts available”. This car is now 100% reliable and runs like a dream. In one of the photos the V8 gurgle on tick-over can be heard. The engine runs and sounds phenomenal. As you can see in the photos the bodywork is in fantastic condition and the hood has also been replaced. The interior is butterscotch with matching door cards and the carpets are navy blue with butterscotch piping. Also, it has the Leven Industries alloy kit that includes the stalks, switches, gear knob and handbrake and a pair of stainless kick plates. A high end Alpine Stereo unit is also fitted and to top off the bodywork it has the gold badges. I have tried to be absolutely truthful in the descriptions and I would say that in some time the dash will need replacing as the walnut has started to crack but this can be replaced for around £300 or there are stainless ones that cost less. The car is MOT’d until September this year and has done 4 miles since September last year due to me getting COVID, then it was time to SORN it. I have the original leather owner’s handbook, fully stamped, loads of documents old MOT’s service documents etc that go back years, plus the TVR Steve Heath Bible in new condition. I have had the car valued at a TVR specialist and have been told that it is a £20k plus on a garage forecourt, because of all the work that’s been done to it. I also have it on an agreed value insurance that reflects this car’s condition. I am sure that you will struggle to find a TVR in as good condition and as reliable with all the upgrades as this one. I have been absolutely genuine in all the details, so please ask if you have any questions. I am in no hurry to sell it’s just that I have other summer activities and I don’t drive this enough, so it’s time to let someone else own this really super one-of-a-kind TVR. The insurance company asks me every year to uplift the value so I have no worries if it doesn’t sell.
